Helm Webhost control

Hey

Just starting up a webhosting company "like everyone else on the net" oh well

anyway.. the system im using is called Helm v4. Iv only ever used WHM im slowly getting used to it.

What are peoples views on it?

It doesnt look as pro as whm but it seems to be doing the job rather nice

It's another control panel that Parallels splashed out on during their spending spree of buying out all their competitors. I've used it in the past before Parallels had control and it was a cool panel, however knowing them; it's more than likely overbloated now.

One of my hosts use it, seems pretty good from the client side, you can get 5 domain licences for free I think or is it 3?

I would do a fair bit of research though if the business grows, you dont want to be manually changing things that helm cant change all the time.

The people I know that use it like it. If your provider only offers Helm now might be a good time to research other providers that also offer Cpanel/WHM, before you have hundreds of clients. Cpanel seems to be the most popular control panel, and if you are migrating client data for your new sign ups, a Cpanel-to-Cpanel move is more likely go smoother than a Cpanel-to-Helm move.

yer iv sacked off helm now. too much hassle and i hardly save anything using it

As far as I am aware helm was taken over by parrallels and discontinued. You would be better using plesk in this case. I would actually never use helm or plesk for mainstream hosting as many people like to use CPanel.

What are you doing now with your web hosting bit Upthevale. TBH there are tons of people wanting to do or are doing what you're doing who will be feeling the same.

iv totaly switched provided and im using cpanel, and PHPcoin as a simple ordering system untill i get a bit of cash to move to WHMCMS

I wouldn't even use PHPCoin in a testing environment. A simple Google search can bring up all the flaws/backdoors/bugs in their script.

To be honest, If you're providing hosting to the general public and can't even be arsed to provide a professional billing solution like WHMCS or ClientExec etc, you SHOULD NOT be in the hosting industry. WHMCS, costs, what? $15 per month? If you can't afford that, what in hell are you doing in the hosting industry.

i understand your point, and i will be moving to WHMCS soon, but i will take note of phpcoins weaknesses and maybe consider moving to WHMCS earlier than before.
