Information Works in Firefox, but not IE

Hey everyone,

I hope this is the right place.

I have an issue which i am helping run.

On the donate page, the images work in Firefox, but not in Internet explorer....

What is wrong? i have checked the coding and it all seems fine.

http://cyclearoundaustralia.com/donate/ - that is the page and we are using wordpress to run the site.

I can post the coding if you need it.

Thanks,

Cohen

RE: Works in Firefox, but not IE
It looks like the jpegs are an invalid format - what did you save them from?

WAIT - 632k for a 238x60? They'd be smaller as a lossless .png; They've GOT to have some sort of extra ... downloading... AHA!

You're JPEG's are infected with "jpeg.32.exploit" according to MSE... That's like a cousin to the old "Anna Kournikova" virus Which Opera/Firefox/Chrome will ignore the infected crap at the end, and IE7/newer likely are detecting and blocking from opening (even though the engine HAS been patched to safely do so).

Here's a tip - when your filesizes for two jpeg come in at 1.2 megabytes and they are only 14K pixels, something's REALLY wrong. Hell, those shouldn't even be 43k as a 24 bit .RAW

-- edit --

CORRECTION. I figured out what they are - they're that 'new' Adobe CS3/newer 'layed jpeg' format which is being incorrectly reported as an infection. Flatten your layers before saving.

Though it's fun browsing your undo buffer Wink

On a different matter.

1 - The 'Donate to the ...' image needs it's text fading slightly so it looks more like part of the image.
2 - The same image has white on the left hand side that stands out from the background colour.
3 - Keep the Paypal image separate and try to sharpen it up.

I also notice you have white background on the km-to-go1-300x139.jpg image on homepage.

RE: Works in Firefox, but not IE
The different sizes of the two similarly styled buttons and different text sizes also makes it look kind-of just slapped together - I would suggest taking the text OUT of the background images and making those dynamic sized (though with the cut corners that could be tricky).

Hover effects to show that they are links might also help... Hell, you might be better off axing the graphics on them since they don't match the site.

RE: Works in Firefox, but not IE
Internet explorer works differently to Firefox due to the way it reads the web page itself. I'm sure building a site in safari/firefox will work in anything above IE 8. Usually 6 & 7 are the problems.

Oh year, the reason. One's made by microsoft...
