White iPhone 4 puts me in an akward position...
I am the proud owner of a white iPhone 3GS 16GB which I wanted because it perfectly matches my macbook - sad, I know but we all have our preferances!!!
Now, given how soon after me purchasing this phone on an 18month contract the iPhone 4 came out I am reluctant to upgrade - obviously because as soon as I do number 5 will come out... But now they have brought it out in white... What will I do!!!! Advice please

RE: White iPhone 4 puts me in an akward position...
Depends on what you want. If the white means a lot to you rather than the newest tech like screen, then the iPhone 4 will suffice.
The reason I say this is because the iPhone 5 is reportedly the same shape and size as the 4, just with a wider screen (but barely, it's just edge to edge which isn't much in comparison), newer screen tech, etc. The software releases will be the same for a long while, so you don't have to worry about that. And there's always the issue as to whether or not they'll have white ready for day one of iPhone 5 either. So it's up to you -> newest hardware in white later or slightly older hardware now. There's relatively no difference between the new iPhone and the old one. Though I am very ignorant these iPhones and their capabilities, you should just wait until you wear out your white iPhone. I would also recommend getting it jailbroken, so that you have more features. It seems that a new iPhone comes out just about every year, I recommend getting the iPhone 6 when it comes out, since that'll be time for your phone to be replaced anyways.
Times are pretty hard right now, you shouldn't waste money on things that aren't needed. Your current iPhone right now is pretty great. |

I say if you have the money and will to buy a product based on asthetics, there is an obvious pull for the 4 over 3GS - camera, shape, gloss, etc. The 5 has no design change rumors that is really buyable as a new version so if you're looking to buy go ahead.
However, maybe you want to switch to a better phone, whereupon, start looking at Android phones. Qyxor.com | No clue what it's supposed to be yet. |

Sounds to me like a case of Applefanboyitis
![]() But in all seriousness, I'd honestly wait for the iPhone 5. The iPhone 4 came out nearly a year ago now, and it sounds like you only just want it now because it's just come out in white. If you go ahead and get it, you're only going to be p***ed off a few months down the track when the iPhone 5 comes out, and you'll want that instead. If you absolutely have to have an iPhone, and won't even consider Android, just wait and get the iPhone 5. Being locked into a contract sucks, so don't spend the money upgrading now, when you're only going to do it again in a couple of months. And I can guarantee that you will give in and upgrade again so soon too. |

Mitcho, you must forget, Apple fans have no problem spending money
. If he were into performance he'd have an Alienware and an Android phone. However, Apple has it's perks, and it's what he likes and what he wants to spend on. I guess the final synopsis is do what you feel is right. If you can wait, wait. If you can't wait for it and want the white iPhone, it wouldn't be the end of the world to get it. RE: White iPhone 4 puts me in an akward position...
Yeah good point
![]() Another reason I think wait is that the iPhone 3GS you already have is a good phone, even though it's a couple years old. It will surely last you well after the iPhone 5 is released. The iPhone 4 is a pretty big upgrade from the 3GS, so it is pretty tempting, but the iPhone 5 is likely to be another big upgrade once again (I know there's a lot of rumours etc going around but there's always new ones and there has been no officially confirmed rumour or design as yet). Believe it or not I'm also waiting for it to be released, I'm seriously tempted to get one

RE: White iPhone 4 puts me in an akward position...
Split decisions on this one it would seem...
One of the benefits of getting the white iPhone 4 now (as oppsoed to waiting for the 5) is that my 3GS would be worth more for trade in right now? Some websites report that I can get up to £180 when I trade in my 3GS which to be fair would come in handy right about now!!! I can see myself getting seriously p**sed when the 5 comes out though!

Yeah if you can get that much for trading in now, that's pretty good, and it will decrease when the 5 comes out obviously. But either way you'll still spend even more if you trade your 4 in for the 5 when it's released. Having to trade in twice, you're going to lose some money on both occasions.
