Auto startup and website load.
Hey as some of you know i run an internet radio.

A kind Presenters has agreed to start doing a breakfast show, is there anything out there than can time the startup of ppls pc's and then load my website which will then kick in the show Smile

"watch out moyles"

Once the pc is on i can offer my listners a downloadable macro that will load the site but jsut wondering if ppl got any better ways?

edit: i know you can go to "Del setup menu" on boot and Go to “Power Management Setup” and enable “ PWron/Resume by alarm”
but is there a more average joe friendly way coz most my listners arnt tech savvy
cheers

Hmmm, no. I don't think so anyway.

I'm guessing the only possible way to do this is within the BIOS, which you have already stated. Due to the fact that a software program can't run unless you're booted into Windows, or any other OS. That's how I understand it, anyway.

RE: Auto startup and website load.
You don't want to have something that would access your user's operating systems.
This would open you to legal problems, privacy issues and all.

You can make a detailed set of instructions with desktop screens showing how to go into their computer admin and setup the PC to boot at a set time.

You can send them an email using a cron job an hour before, and at the time of the broadcast.

I am sure you could find something to do a mass broadcast over instant messenger.

Do a webpage with a count down timer?
Add a notification service to it.
Tell them how to set an alarm in Outlook?
Supply a 3rd party open source desktop widget to notify them?

RE: Auto startup and website load.
cheers for the ideas reg, we have been developing a desktop player, and this we can attach a "Start on launch" rather than loading our website. This removes us having to create tuts for various os system ect ect.

Ill show you all the desktop player soon after my alpha testers finish bug testing later this week
