Hotmail accounts being hacked
http://cohenl.com/blog/news/msn-hotmail-users/
Quote:Over the past couple of days, i have received a few e-mails from friends with advertising crap or spam. When i got the first e-mail, i thought they did it on purpose to advertise and that they had signed up to some advertising thing, but then i received 2 or 3 others which were very similar, i thought… something is going on here/
I recieved an e-mail from the actual owner of one the accounts that was using to spam, and he said “I am sorry about the previous e-mail, my account was some how hacked and the hacker sent an e-mail to all of my contacts. Sorry about that.” – I think that was a good idea doing that.
Now, i am only posting this post because i don’t want people to get their accounts hacked and possibly lose everything on their accounts. Hackers can do many things when they have access to your account…. and get a lot of information that you possibly do not want them to have access to! Also, if the hacker gets access to one of your accounts, they can go to other websites like Myspace and facebook and use the e-mail address they hacked and the password they got, and possibly get into those social sites and then it can all blow up from there.
I had a good computer friend get his hotmail account hacked, and he lost everything and was not very happy at all, and he needed to start again. He lost very important computer information that he needed for many computer related activities.
Anyway, what i am trying to say is, please change your password to something that is very secure. A word like “computers” is not a very secure password… a good secure password is something that contains numbers or characters like !@$%. For example, a good secure password could be “computers34*&”. Or you go even more secure “c(#zero)mput3rs28#%” You could also use a secure password generator – http://tinyurl.com/oxp5l5
Anyway, please please please! Change your password to something secure. I do not want to see someone lose everything and possibly get have multiple things hacked because of a something simple!
This also goes for your banking information! Set a secure password!!!!
I hope this helps and you consider changing your password!!!!
