What are the steps you do when you promote / launch a new website?

Shave all the hair off your head, get the website tattooed onto the back of your head! That way, everyone will see it!



... But really, I'm no expert on promotion - I thought you would know if you run 2 forums? You should give us some tips.

That is what i normally do. Each website is different, depending on the topic.

The primary thing to do is to get top organic SEO rankings.
Everything else is secondary.

A well done site should show top SEO results in a month or so.

Tilak, how do you rank for "criminal record checks"? "Background checks" and "find people"?

1. Submit to Dmoz, Google, Yahoo
2. Use niche related forums-posts/sigs
3. Promote on Twitter/Facebook
4. Buy ads on related sites
5. Use free classifieds (kiiji, etc.)
6. Press Releases
7. Article Marketing
8. Blogging
9. Submit to directories
10. Use Social Bookmarking
11. Send out email to my lists
12. Be sure I'm updating my content regularily
13. Find Niche Related Reciprocal Links
14. And...can't stress enough...ARTICLE Marketing!!!

Very good advice. I can't imagine it gets better than that. Maybe add... Offering something FREE on your site is always good.

On my dog clothing site...I have a contest page to win outfits (get those emails!!) and a page to sign up for deals and sales.

On my plr site (new), I offer free articles.

I do create nice looking web site with CSS as per user experience and do on page SEO and off Page SEO, instart go slow in promotion and building links
