RE: worst web hosting experience
I am not sure if it is worst, perhaps not but the trinix-host is not appreciable at least.

RE: worst web hosting experience
I'm glad to say I've never had this kind of experience before. The nearest thing I guess is if it's time they took money out of my paypal account. Biggrin

Btw, 1and1.com is my webhost. Sleepy

Joom Jump...
They were hosting me (first host of mine) for about 6 months... I thought they were great and all althuogh they did have customer support which i hardly used and then one day my site went down i ask the owner whats wrong after a few days he said the servers crashed. They didnt make any backups as i was new to webmastering those days i didnt have a back up either i lost all of my stuff except a back up of a database which was very old.

RE: worst web hosting experience
I never really had a "Bad" experience. Considering that I never really pay for hosting that factors in.

RE: worst web hosting experience
I've always used namesco, I have had 0 downtime (reported or that I have noticed) in 4years, I cant comment on their customer service as I've never needed to contact them.

RE: worst web hosting experience
Years ago there was a 'business' hosting company called Scapehost which was part of 'scapeweb' - which under the hood WAS just a reseller for Dreamhost (dreamhost later suspended them). Like most of your hosts they offerred an unmetered shared hosting plan at a price that was too good to be true.

From day one about twice a week it would slow to a crawl, and when I logged in and ran Top, what was hogging the CPU was Webalizer. I reported this multiple times, they took the server down for three days to try and 'fix it'...

Then out of the clear blue they blamed my forums for it (that I had JUST moved off an even slower host) and not only suspended my account for excessive CPU use, but deleted all of my information including two months worth of posts (which their plan was supposed to provide backups for!). During normal operating hours we weren't even tickling the CPU - it only 'siezed up' due to the statistics package they saddled me with.

You would not believe the shitstorm I gave them over that... and apparantly I was not alone which is why 'scapehost' doesn't even exist today and the 'parent' company scapeweb looks like it's been run into the ground.

Though on a positive note, it FINALLY gave me a chance to convince my people it was time to abandon UBBThreads and move to something a bit leaner and meaner - SMF.

It is said that the future is always born in pain. The history of war is the history of pain. If we are wise what is born of that pain matures into the promise of a better world - because we learn that we can no longer afford the mistakes of the past. - Citizen G'Kar

RE: worst web hosting experience
I am very disappointed with my current free web hosting because it didn't have enough resources.
